Totally agree that most of the band promos you'll see out there are pretty redundant. As a photographer who specializes in high-end promotional imagery for bands & musicians, I'm always on the lookout for sources of inspiration. Like Nick Schnelle mentioned above, I frequently turn to artistic mediums that are completely outside the realm of photography, such as magazine ads, movies, music, and even live dance performances. My ultimate goal is to give my clients something that's both eye-catching AND a true representation of their unique "voice" as an artist. I go to great lengths to ensure that the promo images I put into each artist's hands will be something they'll want to send out to the four corners of the globe and say "This is ME. Take notice!"

By the way, I also run a blog centered around online promotion for bands & musicians, and I just posted an article entitled <a href="http://tampabandphotos.com/2012/03/06/30-awesome-ideas-for-band-photo-shoots/" rel="nofollow">"30 Awesome Ideas for Band Photo Shoots"</a> that will probably be of interest to your readers.

Thanks for the article!
